As LGBT people and allies prepare for the national “Day Without a Gay” on December 10, please join ACTUAL ACTION and CAUSECAST this Wednesday for a day of community service in Riverside, CA. Though Riverside is an area that heavily supported Proposition 8, we hope that through community outreach, we can put human faces on those of us who are in favor of equal rights.

In conjunction with the Riverside Parks department, we’ll be meeting at a section of the city’s Fairmount Park whose perimeter is in need of cleanup and painting. The Rose Garden where we’ll be cleaning is a community centerpiece for weddings, quinceañeras, and other family and community activities.

Please meet us at 11 AM at the Rose Garden at Fairmount Park in Riverside, and please wear appropriate clothing for painting and cleaning. Later, there will also be a march in Riverside at 3PM in protest of Prop 8 — we invite you to join us there, too! Visit http://tinyurl.com/5qelgt for a map.

This will be a fun activity where you’ll be working alongside many interesting, passionate people. Even better? You’ll be making a difference in the community and helping our fight for equal rights gain visibility through the media that will be present.
