History's mystery
- Posted on 09.23.08
Does history really repeat itself? I don't know. I used to think that human history was cyclical, as if we were either doomed to repeat the same tragedies or that we were all so collectively unaware we didn't recognize the patterns of our poor decision-making re: war, oil, health care, the environment etc. But perhaps it's not that either. Perhaps it's that it is more comfortable to collectively make the decision in favor for something (or someone) that is ultimately ill-suited for human evolution but is familiar, than for something strange and unknown but that could lead to a better quality of life. This is nothing new--not much is--but it's something I've thought about quite a bit.
