The poster child of the Iranian protest: lovely Neda. “I am sitting here enjoying my freedom while women are dying for theirs around the world.” ~ Bobbi Miller-Moro

As a woman, I have a responsibility to speak for other women, and the example of what happened to a precious beautiful 26 year old philosophy student Iranian woman while protesting is unspeakable. Allegedly shot in the chest by a sniper Basij militia while she was standing with her father (or teacher?). He knelt down and begged his dying daughter, “Do not be afraid” as she bled to death. Heart-wrenching. Here is the Facebook fans page set up for her.

Neda Agha Soltan (Persian: ندا آقا سلطان ; born 1982, died 20 June 2009; age 26–27).

What can we do? These brave young women standing against the regime, fighting for their fredom, rights and democracy. Nobel Peace Laureate and lawyer Shirin Ebadi of Iran describes how education can lead to peace in the Middle East, and she is at the forefront of this movement. Education is the secret weapon for women to understand their freedom.

In every race, every culture, education is the key element for a country’s success. The most successful countries around the world, and the most progressive are the ones where women are at the forefront of the political sector.

We will always remember Neda. My 15 year old daughter who looks so much like her will remember Neda. She wanted to be apart of history, and like Marvis Leno says on Larry King, “it is the Century of the Woman.” There is no turning back, you can not take freedom out of a person.

Facts: Her fiance Makan, said she had been in a car in central Tehran with her music teacher when they were caught in a traffic jam. He said the pair had left the car to escape the heat. It was when she was walking down Karegar Street talking on her phone that the shot rang out.
Neda Soltani’s death was filmed on a phone and posted on the internet. Authorities prohibited her family from giving her an Islamic funeral.

“Soltani is being mythologised as a martyr to the opposition’s cause, a rallying call for a protest movement in need of a hero. Her image has been printed on placards brandished during clashes in Tehrantoday.” Robert Tait and Matthew Weaver.

Neda, us women and men around the world acknowledge your bravery, your sacrifice to believe in a world that works for everyone. That we all can enjoy the freedoms of life, and the joy of being a woman in the 21st century. We will always think of you. Bless you and rest in peace sweet angel.

Thank you for being one of the most powerful dedicated beautiful and driven women I know. You stand for what is right and you know what is wrong. "The dream of freedom is only ours when we stand up for what is wrong." Keep the spirit of advocacy independence and action. Thank you again... In Tears
