What's your cause?

My cause is in community building, the environment and mentoring young people to get to know themselves better by deconstructing the history taught to them by learning how to think, not what to think.
My passion for these causes has been fueled after I studied abroad in the Philippines. This was such an eye opening experience to me, and it is still an ongoing process to describe how much it has added to my perspective as a Filipino-American, and as just a human being deconstructing the harsh realities of the world. The experiences I had, and the conversations I held uncovered my own identity. More importantly, the program has given me motivation to find ways to give back to my own community, as well as utilize my newfound knowledge to discover more about my role as a recent college graduate with a yearning to inform and educate my peers about my experiences in the Philippines. If you combine my day job of fixing computers, my constant thirst for new technology tools using web/mobile/personal computing, and the passion to help... you can imagine how excited I was to read about TechSoup.org in this NYTimes article

First of all TechSoup.org is a great resource for information on useful software and web tools that are helpful in the technical administration/management of a nonprofit organization. At the home page, there is a daily news feed of upcoming online tech events (to discuss new and useful technologies with other TechSoup users and moderators of the site), links to free downloads of software to increase productivity (or just useful) and updates to the various sections of the site.
