Well, the Google Lunar X PRIZE is specifically interested in sending a roving vehicle to the Moon, but the X PRIZE Foundation (http://www.xprize.org) has several incentive prizes for the benefit of humanity. These include the $10 million Progressive Insurance Automotive X PRIZE to build a 100MPGe car, and the $10 million Archon X PRIZE for Genomics, to sequence 100 human genomes in 10 days for less than $10K each.
