Why I Work at Causecast
- Posted on 10.17.08
My first introduction to Causecast was early last summer when I got an ecstatic call from a friend. He asked if I had heard of a new online community that highlighted the efforts of everyday heroes as well as notable figures, well known nonprofits and passion projects of common individuals. Having spent significant time working in entertainment philanthropy as well as on the ground with various nonprofits, I had to know more.
When I had an opportunity to meet a couple people working at Causecast I was asked who a leader was to me. That question and their responses struck me, especially in a town where it is very easy to take the shallow road. A leader, simply put, is someone who is making an impact, a difference in the lives of those around them, in their environment. I knew my search for a place that so beautifully combines the influence of those in entertainment, the efforts of those in nonprofit and the reach of technology was over.
In a recent team building exercise many of us discussed why we "care" and how we can inspire those who don't, to give a damn. This is really the Causecast story. While I haven't officially been here long, I will say this is a group of people who care, who went on that trip, encountered that person, caught wind of the movement, and cares. And caring for this team doesn't stop at giving that one-time emotional response, or showing up at that gala, caring is working tirelessly all week, pulling the kinds of hours usually reserved for doctors or, talent agencies, and then getting up early on a weekend day to walk in honor of those who have HIV/AIDS.
I work at Causecast because I care, because I believe in the value and potential of our product, and because I am empowered by the team of people I am surrounded by.Related causes: Community, Human Rights

Kris for President! Well said. This is my home. Some of you are probably calling me a pest. Again, operating on very little sleep, on the edge of living in the street, being called nasty names by Denis Leary, and fighting for my sons and other childrens voice motivates me to be everywhere the web will take me. I will visit with Obama, McCain, Oprah, Jenny, Ryan, and more in an hour if it will help these children. Thank you for being so passionate and confirming that I have made the right choice, right connections, at the right time to help these poisoned children. Thank you again.
