Age of Stupid Campaign
- Posted on 09.15.09
As you all know by now, the 90 minute film "Age of Stupid" is set to be out on Monday, September 21st. The movie directed by Franny Armstrong shows a man living in 2055 looking back to 2008 wondering why we didn't stop climate change when we had the chance to. There are a lot of things we use in our every day lives that are stupid to the environment. A lot of us still purchase and use the products despite our knowledge of their danger to the environment. However, I'd like to believe that there are also many of us who are unaware of how much one thing can hurt the environment and how easy replacements could be. For example, a lot of people take lunch to work or school. It's a convenient to pack a couple of ziploc bags and stuff them all into a brown paper bag. However, the ziploc and paper bags are only good for one time use. The ziploc bags are plastic which can't be recycled, and rarely do people re-use their brown paper bags. Therefore a solution could be to use Tupperware for everything and to carry them in a pretty re-usable bag. That way not only are you eco-friendly, but stylish too. Another way to easily go green is to take out the plugs after using appliances. How many of us use the coffee maker in the morning and leave the plug in until the next day? You can actually save a lot of energy by taking the plugs out of the wall. I know I personally leave my cell phone charger plugged into the wall all day even when my phone isn't charging, and after learning how much I can do just by plugging out, it won't ever be plugged in unless my phone is too! Anyways, my point is we always read articles, watch movies, see commercials and hear about going green. While we're all inspired, I don't think we're motivated enough unless we know how much we're hurting the environment and how easy it could be to help. Causecast is raising awareness about the Age of Stupid film and the issues it addresses through a recent campaign. Now you can upload a photo of something you find stupid to the Facebook page to win a pair of tickets to the movie ! I joined in the fun and shared my insight on the penny and how much it's hurting our economy and obviously our environment. Hope you'll join the campaign too :)
