When should silence be front page news AFAA Advancing Futures For Adults with Autism At 16 sites around the nation today Friday November 13, 2009 a miracle took place. A National Town Hall for the Advancing Futures for Adults with Autism supported by over 64 organizations & Coordinating over 1000 people. The Objective was to engage, Come to agreement, propose actions, & craft a report /format for the Autism Congress of 2010. www.afaa-us.org

When was the last time two Americans in a Town Hall meeting agreed on anything with out shouting, name calling, and throwing stuff. Well today as I said over 1000 Americans agreed that developing an action plan to deal with Adults with Autism must be completed. over 91% Pledged commitment to the initiative. On most topics agreement was about 80%. That was the miracle.

Now Most miracles do not take place unless there are a few angels involved. I must say I was Amazed by the coordination & professionalism of a group called AMERICASPEAKS ( Engaging Citizens in Governance ). They saw to it every ounce of creative potential wa...Read More

Sticks and stones may break my bones but words will never hurt me…

This morning I have more sad news from the world of the Autism Vaccine Injury Debate. In case you did not know, Mothers were called “Refrigerator Mothers” because people (Doctors) did not understand the real medical condition that effected about 1 in 10,000 or more. Autism was only a psychological condition that was blamed on the mother. We have come a long way baby…

Fast forward to today. We understand that Autism is truly a neurological medical condition. We now have a rate fast approaching 1 in 100 and even as high as 1 in 70 in some areas of the country. The medical establishment have no idea why, no suggestions, no practical research, no support, no advice, and the public would never subject the poor parents and children battling this condition to hurtful words like “Refrigerator Mother” because we have come so far….

Never a Dull Moment. Scared out of our wits. Autism Adventures. Last night was a typical night in the Welsh Household. Dad home from work. Mom rushing off to a meeting Leftover Chinese food... Saying bye to Grandma for a few days. Tanner had the biggest smile and was very active. Meal times can be a challenge. Since he has hit puberty he eats, gets up, and wants more. Growing like a weed is an understatement.

Last night was no different, I had a little trouble getting him to sit at the table. He does not chew but was running and jumping a little more than usual. He managed to sit through a few bites of rice noodles, some juice , and chopped up cabbage. Up and running jumping smiling. Then he came back sat down. I gave him one more bite. A glazed look came over his face. He almost looked like he was falling asleep but his eyes got wider and wider. He started to drool. He turned white. I said to my wife do you think he is having a seizure.

That was the flag that sent Mom into emergency mode. I cleared his mouth. Mom cleared more. She pick...Read More

  • Our story

When their only son, Tanner, got the last of his pre-kindergarten vaccines at age 4 1/2, Tim and Cheri Welsh held their breath.
The Catlin couple had delayed those immunizations a bit, worried about the rare, potential reactions they'd heard some children have. But they also knew vaccines protect kids from nasty diseases like measles and mumps, so they eventually decided to proceed.

Two days after he got two shots containing five vaccines, Tanner went running up to his dad and spoke his last sentence: "My name is Tanner, my name is Tanner."

The diagnosis after he stopped speaking: autism.

Now 11, Tanner has emerged from his silence just once, to say hi to his dad. And Tim and Cheri Welsh have been left with frustrating questions nobody can answer.
Most pediatricians debunk the much-debated connection between vaccines and the onset of autism. But the Welshes think the timing between Tanner's vaccinations and autism just couldn't be a coincidence.

"I Am Autism" How much longer 66 years no answers Do more! Dialog in new PSA on Autism...

man: I am autism. I'm visible in your children, but if I can help it, I am invisible to you until it's too late. I know where you live, and guess what? I live there too. I hover around all of you. I know no color barrier, no religion, no morality, no currency. I speak your language fluently, and with every voice I take away, I acquire yet another language. I work very quickly. I work faster than pediatric AIDS, cancer, and diabetes combined. And if you are happily married, I will make sure that your marriage fails. Your money will fall into my hands, and I will bankrupt you for my own self-gain. I don't sleep, so I make sure you don't either. I will make it virtually impossible for your family to easily attend a temple, a birthday party, a public park, without a struggle, without embarrassment, without pain. You have no cure for me. Your scientists don't have the resources, and I relish their desperation. Your neighbors are happier to pretend that...Read More
