  • Contest winners of a contest I wish that they did not have to have...What DAN means to me... Deafeat Autism Now

Recently I entered a contest about what Defeat Autism Now means to me. They have announced the winners. It is a contest I just wish that did not exist. There was some big news yesterday the headline read

Ga. Supreme Court Backs Vaccine Suit in Autism Case

Which will eventually be appealed to the supreme court. It is huge news since most lawsuits are dismissed because of protections the big pharma companies bought from our government. That again is another topic. So many topics...So little time.

I wanted to present the two tied winners of the contest. It was not a big prize (Sarcastic). It was only a ticket to a conference that would help your child get better. It is a sin that everyone can not have equal access to current information and the information is not coming from our family doctors. (Oh no not another soap box)

    Essay one...

Defeat Autism Now! means hope, Defeat Autism Now! means never having to settle for going home and learning "to deal with this, because this is the rest of your life," as our neurologist suggested.

Defeat Autism Now! means the neurologist lied or was misinformed. Defeat Autism Now! means my child will look in my eyes and recognize me. Defeat Autism Now! means my older children will not have to watch over Austin, because he will be a successful part of society. Defeat Autism Now! means tomorrow will be a better day. Defeat Autism Now! means a future!!! Defeat Autism Now! means hope, and that is not us repeating ourselves, that is a fact.

    Essay Two...

Thanks to the Defeat Autism Now! protocol, my son transformed from a screaming, difficult child to a pleasant, cheerful one! The change has been gradual but consistent. His language has blossomed, and the fog he lived in has lifted. Defeat Autism Now! has changed our lives COMPLETELY. We can finally communicate with our son, and can now take him to public places without fear of embarrassing, stressful meltdowns, and enjoy family activities together. THANK YOU to all the doctors, researchers, and parents who developed Defeat Autism Now!; the impact their work has made in the autism community is HUGE in helping families get their children back!

I think I lost because I could not come close to the word requirements. I think we all said about the same things some I am sure it was tough... I am not bitter.... I just hate to lose. In the end it is just a contest that should not happen. It is wrong on so many levels but I am glad they did it. Congrats to the winners go to the conference and learn. Then share the information with the world.

Here is a sample press release to tell the world about your trip....

    Autism: Is it Treatable?
    Local parent____________ says yes

[YOUR CITY, YOUR STATE] – Today almost everyone knows someone who has a child with autism. Autism is a severe neurological disorder that has recently reached epidemic proportions in our country. The Center for Disease Control (CDC) estimates that one in every 150 children suffer with this disorder today which costs our society upwards of 35 billion dollars annually.

[YOUR NAME], a local resident of COUNTY for XX years, says that with appropriate treatment children with autism can lead healthy productive lives and in some cases even recover from this disorder. “New research is overturning the traditional view of autism as an untreatable genetic disorder. Children with autism often suffer with multiple medical conditions like gastrointestinal, metabolic and immune system disorders as well as body burdens of environmental toxicants that when appropriately recognized and treated, can lead to marked improvement” said [YOUR NAME].

[YOUR NAME] plans to travel to San Diego, California in October to attend the Autism Research Institutes “Defeat Autism Now!” conference and network with hundreds of parents of children with this disorder along side top clinical researchers to learn more about autism and effective treatments. (She/he) plans to share the knowledge with local parents of children with autism when the (city/county/town) chapter of [YOUR ORGANIZATION] meets ______________.
