Why I Participate

Let’s Bottom line this discussion from a parent who feels that their son was vaccine injured. I am now awake at 2 AM because Tanner wants to use his bed as a trampoline. One more time for the new comers. Tanner spoke. His last complex sentence was “My name is Tanner. My name is Tanner” July 4th six years ago. We delayed his Kindergarten vaccines because we thought their might be issues but did so on solid medical advice that he would be fine. This sentence was the last after his shots. Move ahead six years to June 2008. His doctor had committed suicide. A defeat Autism Now Doctor looked us in the eyes and said in the exam room that he believed that vaccinations and environmental factors played a role in Tanners Autistic condition. After diet and supplement changes he spoke again for the first time the week before Father’s Day he said “Hi Daddy” . Is America the land of freedom, hope, love and opportunity. Nobody listens to the parents. We are not hysterical radicals. We want the world to be free of bad diseases and our children to be healthy. We want your children to be healthy. The establishment refuses to do the research we request. Has secret meetings. Rewrites their own studies. Gets stars to call us parasites. This is an epidemic that has been ignored by the medical community, education, insurance, Religion, politicians, and the Government. Support, therapies, and funding have been virtually nonexistent for these children. Come live at my house for a week, then give us your opinion. I would be satisfied with a chance to take my wife out to a dinner and movie. That has not happened in about 8 years now. Who are you going to trust??? The paid shills of the Pharma industry or Parents asking for unbiased studies for safer vaccines and environment. Until we all stand up united the almighty dollar will send someone in your family to never never land. In this case never watch a baseball game, never go to prom, never go to college, never get a job, never get married, never have a love life. Never never never. With tears, prayers and hope Tanner’s Dad.

About Me

http://tinyurl.com/napzje This is a profound mission statement a friend Ed Arranga from www.autismone.org wrote to me... Tim, as always I appreciate your insightful comments and critique. To me this is not a game or a charade or a touchy-feely subject – this is a life and death struggle. I have two boys with autism. My 14-year old will be able to flourish; he has recovered to that point. My 11-year old has not. The rage inside me is real. I see the integrate beauty of my sons and their potential and the intrinsic stamp of worthless placed on them by society. So like every other parent I fight for their educational needs and biomedical treatments and anyone who comes between my sons and their potential. That is life in the immediate but there is a still desperate need for a fusion of background and foreground to help “provide the incentive for change and move beyond the comfortable,” as you so eloquently state. To me autism is like sexism and racism – a wrongly defined problem which can never find the solution. Changing the problem definition from psychological to biomedical is a start but the agent of change that marked the unraveling of sexism and racism was not a call to a greater good, but economic retribution. Rosa Parks’ arrest did not bring our nation to examine racism. It was the Montgomery bus boycott by African-Americans which led to deficits in public transit profits that caused a change in policy from segregation to integration on the Alabama buses. When women began demanding equal pay for equal work and began legal proceedings and advocated for equal legal protection under the law they exerted their economic muscle. The gay rights movement employed a variety of tactics to effect change, but one of the most effective was the boycott of Florida orange juice by the gay community which targeted Anita Bryant, at the time their spokesperson and sent a message to corporate America to exercise caution when trampling on another group’s civil rights. As a community we have not yet reached the maturity of the civil rights or women’s rights movements, but we are very close. Give me a week and I will tell you how we plan to get there. Maybe www.causecast.org is the way to get the world to a better place on many fronts.

    Hi Tanners-Dad,

Your story really affected me. As I want to be a father myself one day, it is something that I will most definitely carry with me in the back of my mind. I am truly happy that Tanner is doing much better.

Thank you so much for all the support.

I am pumped to see a new venue to explore and get help for our kids. Thank you for the nice comments. It is always exciting to be on the ground floor but I wish this was a club that would add no new members. Say it loud, say it proud, and keep the faith. I truly believe what goes around comes around.
