Invisible Children

Previous to our interest in “The Rescue”, we were aware of the situation in North Uganda, but had not done any research in understanding this civil war raging there for the past twenty-three years. After viewing several websites explaining the extreme fates of these child soldiers, we felt very strongly that our hearts were with these desensitized children who have known no other life than that of war and violence. While mere words on a page are able to stir emotion, the documentary truly opens eyes to a most horrifying civil war we had no idea existed. Not only did the documentary open our hearts to these children, it actually broke our hearts to see these terrible things happening right in front of our eyes. The children interviewed in the documentary can truly change the way you think. The awareness that Invisible Children brings for these kids is something we believe is so necessary in seeing this situation’s end. Education is so important here and cannot be stressed enough. We believe that Invisible Children educates, thus, bringing about a change, which will never come if we continue to sit back in ignorance proclaiming the terror of war. Without action, we’re doing nothing. Because of Invisible Children, there is a hope for innocence in North Uganda once more.
