Factory Farming Practices Ruled Inhumane
Just because they’re commonly used, does not mean they’re humane. Or so that was the argument of the New Jersey Supreme Court in a recent ruling that struck down the New Jersey Department of Agriculture’s regulations exempting all routine husbandry practices as “humane”. The lawsuit, brought forth by Farm Sanctuary, was another great step forward in a recognition of animal rights. The courts even went into detail, identifying some of the major issues of concern, which included tail docking, castration, de-beaking and de-toeing. It seems, although the battle is still ongoing, that national consciousness of animal rights abuses is deepening. Things may finally be looking better for the animals…
