Sleep Does A Business Good?

In today’s busy business world the philosophy on sleep is “I’ll sleep when I’m dead." Many people feel like sleep is a waste of their time and they have more productive things to do. Reports are now showing that the more sleep you get the more productive and creative you’ll be. Sleep makes a unique contribution,” explains Mark Jung-Beeman, a psychologist at Northwestern University. “When you think you’re not thinking about something, you probably are.” Another theory that applies to this is that when you sleep you stop problem solving and are able to let creativity flow. One of the creators of the animated film Wall.E had this to say: “It’s more that sleep brings a change of approach,” says Mark Holmes, “You can get tunnel vision when you’re hammering away at a problem. You keep going down this same path, again and again, just tweaking, making incremental changes at best. ” He continues: “Sleep erases that. It resets you. You wake up and realize — wait a minute! — there is another way to do this.” It makes sense that you need to step away from the work you’re doing in order to see it more clearly.
Do you ever take a break to step away from your work in order to come back more focused?
