Most people can’t understand what it’s like to go to bed hungry. However many children in India have this exact problem. 12 Indian states have an “alarming” level of hunger. The 2008 Global Hunger Index, ranks India at 66 out 88 countries. “When Indian states are compared to countries in the Global Hunger Index, [the central Indian state of] Madhya Pradesh ranks between Ethiopia and Chad.”

The Indian government figures that 60% of India’s children are malnourished which works out to around 10 million children. “All states also need to improve strategies to facilitate inclusive economic growth, ensure food sufficiency and reduce child mortality,”

It’s shocking to think so many children are malnourished in India. What do you think we can do to help solve this problem?
