Halloween might be a fun time for children and families but not everyone enjoys it. Take black cats for example. Every year a lot black cats are used a props or even hurt during Halloween.

The Humane Society of West Texas is taking precautions to make sure this doesn’t happen. They are altering their adoption policy so during the month of Halloween people can’t adopt black cats. “Police officers have literally found cats that have been gutted open and found, you know, where it looks like there has been a ritual of some sort, and so we just don’t want that to happen,” said Judy Steinbock of the Humane Society.

There have been reports of black cats being skinned, spray painted, shaved, burned and mummified in duct tape during Halloween. If you have a black cat please make sure you keep it indoors around tHalloween.

The Humane Society of West Texas says they are always looking for animal lovers to serve as foster families and temporarily keep animals. They pay for food and medical expenses, and animal foster parents take care of them until they get adopted. If you’re interested, you can visit the Human Society’s Causecast profile.
