Slavery Today - Yes, It Still Does Exist

Statistics show that a million to four million kids are trafficked into slavery every year, and that there could be as much as 30 million slaves in the world. Every couple of seconds another child is sold into slavery. People often suggest that in our work combating slavery that we are trying to “end” the trade in persons. This isn’t quite the reality though.
The reality is that human trafficking is the fastest growing illegal business in the world and that soon it will pass drug sales to be the most profitable illegal business. Think about it for a second. Okay, there are more slaves today than ever in human history and it’s the fastest growing illegal business. Large mafias that traffic drugs, people, and arms are making fortunes and more and more children fall into their clutches every day.
HUMAN TRAFFICKING AND SLAVERY
You may think that slavery is something from our history books, but the facts reveal something else. Women and children are being sold into slavery, and heart broken parents are facing an agonizing choice when they realize that there are few ways to get their children back. Modern-day slavery begins with human trafficking. According to UNICEF over one million children are trafficked annually worldwide. This means that one to four million kids are falling into slavery every year and each day more children are forced to become sex workers or someone’s labor slave.
What is human trafficking?
The actual act of trafficking, including the recruitment, transportation, transfer, harboring or receipt of persons; for the purpose of exploitation in either the sex industry, domestic servitude, agricultural slavery, manufacturing, and child soldiering… is the fastest growing illegal way to make money. Associated acts such as the threat or use of force or other forms of coercion, abduction, fraud, deception, abuse of power or of a position of weakness or vulnerability, committed without the free and full consent of the victim is a common theme in human trafficking, and is also linked to many unspeakable acts. From recruitment to exploitation, trafficked persons lose their identity and desperately struggle against a situation that reduces them to a salable commodity.
No one should have to live their life in human trafficking, when we have the legislation and legal jurisdiction to abolish slavery!
Use your freedom to help others!
THE IMPACT OF HUMAN TRAFFICKING
With the burgeoning growth of the Internet pornography industry and with failing financial markets, and more and more people falling into poverty, the pandemic of slavery is getting worse than ever.
Despite new legislation to combat slavery, human trafficking is the fastest growing illegal business in the world. It will soon pass drugs to be the most lucrative and least prosecuted illegal business for mafias and terrorist organizations. Mafias pervasive in trafficking drugs and arms have learned that there are billions to be made trafficking young children and adolescent girls.
With the burgeoning success of the Internet and pornography online, human trafficking has become the preferred business of the most powerful mafia families. Human trafficking is a multi-dimensional threat because it deprives people of their human rights and freedoms, and it is a global health risk, a national security risk, and it fuels the threat of terror, black ops special interest, and the growth of organized crime.
