Today is National Wear Red Day

Today, show your support for women’s heart disease awareness. Don your favorite red dress, shirt, tie, shoelaces, whatever to bring life-saving attention to women’s heart health.
Heart disease is the number one killer of women in the United States. One in three women dies of heart disease each year (and FYI, one in 30 dies from breast cancer). Nearly two-thirds of women who die of a sudden heart attack had no prior symptoms. And only 20% of women consider heart disease to be their own greatest health risk.
You probably know someone who has been affected by heart disease – including risk factors such as high blood pressure and high cholesterol. It could be your mother, sister, aunt…or even you.
According to the National Institutes of Health, it’s never too early—or too late—to take action to prevent and control risk factors since heart disease develops over time and can start at a young age—even in the teen years.
