Creative Visions Foundation co-founders, Kathy Eldon and Amy Eldon Turtletaub, will be honored by Young Audiences New York (YANY) at their 8th Annual Children’s Arts Awards Benefit on Monday, March 9, at Cipriani-Wall Street. Other honorees include Emmy Award-winner Julianna Margulies and Rino Scanzoni, Chief Investment Officer, GroupM North America & Chairman – Mediaedge:cia North America. The guest host of the event will be celebrity chef and author, Rocco Dispirito.

YANY is honoring Kathy and Amy for their extraordinary contributions to the arts and their dedication to arts education to create well-rounded citizens of the world. YANY Executive Director John G. Schultz says, “Young Audiences New York enjoys the privilege of providing New York City school children with the vital arts experiences that enrich their lives. Kathy and Amy are among an outstanding group of individuals who serve as advocates in the belief that arts education can enhance a child’s life-long connection to the arts and engage students in all areas of study.”

Says Amy Eldon Turteltaub, “We are honored to receive this award, knowing that Young Audiences NY serves children most in need of experiences that can expand their horizons and inspire them to believe they have a role to play in creating a better world.”

In the summer of 1993, Dan Eldon, the youngest photojournalist ever to shoot for Reuters, was stoned to death by enraged mob after the mistaken bombing by the U.N. of a house they believed belonged to a local warlord. Dan was 22-years old when he died.

As a way to honor Dan’s legacy and spirit, his mother, Kathy, and sister, Amy, founded the Creative Visions Foundation, that uses arts and media to support “creative activists” like Dan who believe in the power of an individual to positively change the world. CVF provides vital assistance such as mentoring, networking and financial support to other creative activists.

Young Audiences New York is a leading multi-disciplinary arts and culture-based program provider. With more than 50 years of arts-in-education expertise, Young Audiences provides innovative and diverse programs to children Pre-K-12 that promote creativity and academic achievement, teach essential life and learning skills and provide opportunities for children and families to learn together, all of which support the development of a well-rounded individual.

Young Audiences New York, a chapter of the national Young Audiences organization, has been advancing arts education in New York City public schools since 1952.

In addition to honoring the award recipients, the benefit will include YANY-supported performances by public school students. Co-Chairs include Griffin Dunne, Trudie Styler, Mickey Sumner and Denise Weimann. Past Arts Award Honorees include Vanessa Williams, Matthew Modine, Gregory Hines, Brian Stokes Mitchell, Wynton Marsalis and Richard Thomas.
