Do you remember last year’s Blog Action Day? On October 15, 2008, tens of thousands of bloggers came together under the common goal of writing about one subject: poverty. Each blogger brought a unique perspective to the table, sparking thousands of discussions. TechCrunch, Huffington Post and Causecast all participated in this global effort.

Today is Ada Lovelace Day. The daughter of poet Lord Byron, Lovelace used symbology and textual representation to interpret Charles Babbage’s Analytical Engine, a 19th century precursor to the computer. In honor of Ada Lovelace and her scientific breakthroughs, Causecast is encouraging others to spark discussions about women in technology.

Are you a woman in the testosterone-filled technology field? Do you know inspirational female trailblazers, entrepreneurs, innovators, programmers, designers, game developers, hardware experts, engineers or consultants? Young women in these fields need role models. So, take a moment and write about an experience you had, or a woman in technology who has made a profound impact on your life. Write on your personal blog, on Causecast, Twitter (Use #ALD09 for Twitter hashtags) or your Facebook.

If you feel moved to further action after blogging, Check out Girls in Tech, a social network enterprise focused on the engagement, education and empowerment of like-minded women. Or perhaps you are a successful woman in technology and are looking for a way to give back. Look no further than to Causecast’s organization Step-Up Women’s Network. They have a great professional mentorship program where young women are matched with senior-level women in their respective fields for a six-month period.

However you choose to celebrate Ada Lovelace Day, we hope you take a moment to consider the little-known woman who helped dream the idea of the computer you are sitting before right at this moment.
