Support Net Zero Homes Through AB 212

by JONATHAN HARRIS, Managing Editor
California State Assembly member Lori Saldaña recently authored a landmark green energy bill called AB 212. The bill would require that, by the year 2020, all new residential homes are built to a “net zero” standard, meaning that the home produces as much energy from clean sources each year as it consumes.
It seems like a no-brainer, and would be a monumental victory for all of us who strive to reduce the amount of energy we expend in our daily lives. Unfortunately, the bill could die if it’s no taken “off suspense” by Thursday, May 28, by Appropriations Chair Kevin de León.
Causecast organization Global Green USA is urging all activists to call de León’s office at 916-319-2045.
In addition to Global Green USA, the bill is also supported by the Sierra Club, Breathe California, the California Oaks Foundation, Modern Earth Finance, Kyoto USA, the Coalition for Clean Air and the American Lung Association of California.
