by JONATHAN HARRIS, Managing Editor

We’ve established that Causecast leader Matthew Modine is into bicycling. His comparison of automobiles to cigarettes inspired some impassioned reactions from readers on The Huffington Post. He’s been one of the primary voices urging us to change our culture, to change the way we think about transportation.

If you’ve been caught up in the great bike-car debate and live in New York, you can share in Modine’s revolution by joining him and his organization Bicycle For a Day for a fundraising party for Solar One at 23rd Street and the East River.

Profits from ticket sales of this event will be donated to Solar One towards the purchase of sixty bike racks for the new Solar Two building — The First Carbon-Neutral, Net-Zero Energy Building in New York City, which will undergo construction late this year.

Here are the deets:
Event Date and Time: 06.04.09, 06:30pm
Location: Solar One, 2420 FDR Drive, Service Road East
Price: $30 in advance, $35 at the door

The event will include a performance by hip-hop artist Rahzel and special promotions for the Bicycle Film Festival and the Brita Climate Ride.

*Note: I have been informed that the word “deets” should never be used by me to attempt to indicate “hipness” or a connection with youth culture.

*Note 2: Also forbidden is “totes.”
