Your home is probably stuffed to the roof with books you’ve read, books passed down to you, or books you’ve owned for years but are never going to read. Your extra clutter could fit great in a local school or library. Why not hold a book drive?

Set the details—Where is your book drive going to be? Who are you looking to benefit? Answer these questions and be sure to contact the beneficiaries. A local children’s library would probably love to sponsor your event if it could bring in dozens of children’s books.

Gather your own books—Set a good example by clearing your own clutter. Count how many books you have and make that a crucial part of the advertising for the event. “If everyone brings eight books we’ll contribute hundreds to the library!”

Spread the word—Make an announcement in your community newsletter, create a Facebook group and tell your friends on Causecast!

Make it happen—Be vocal and active at the book drive. Thank everyone for their contributions and make sure to announce the total number of books donated so that the volunteers can feel good about making a difference.
