What is Hype To Habit?

Green is everywhere. It’s plastered on magazine covers, has its own TV channel and is flaunting itself all over the internet. But ubiquity does not equal results. Beyond the sound bites and marketing stunts, substance seems to be a bit lacking…

The truth is that despite all the information we have about melting icecaps, deforestation, toxic landfills and a plastic island twice the size of Texas, most people still aren’t living in a way that could change all that.

In other words, actual green living is pretty much… hype.

We here at Creative Citizen and Causecast are on a mission to substantially move the green needle with the launch of our new web series, Hype to Habit.

Each episode of Hype to Habit will bring you three stories that truly matter, accompanied by actionable solutions, so you can finally do something about the news you view.

It’s our aim to inform, entertain and inspire people to make sustainable living simply the way to live.

Today’s episode of Hype to Habit will cover the lifestyle spectrum from water to spam to denim.

First up, water, our most precious resource: while the developing world doesn’t have enough to drink, we here in the developed world are grossly misusing it. Becoming a smarter water user starts in your own backyard.

Then there’s spam: that annoying, inbox clogging junk mail that requires a ton of energy to transmit and delete. Though receiving a free Rolex or mail order bride e-mail can be fun, spam is a serious energy drain.

Finally, fall sees the return of stonewashed denim: good news for 80s fans, bad news for the environment. We’ll give you denim alternatives which leave no victims, fashion or otherwise.

We hope you enjoy Hype to Habit and make a habit of watching future episodes.

The comments on spam are so out placed. Talked about while showing pictures of the REAL live tangible spam that is causing the MOST terrible damage that no one talks about! Since you guys were showing pictures of the real thing, I thought that's what you were going to talk about calling all that junk mail what it is - pure unsolicited spam that should be illegal! Over-stuffing my mailbox with it, with unrequested unsolicited papers is a violation of my private property. I have gotten multiple notices from the post office that they would start sending my mail back and not delivering it because there was no room in the mail box due to it being stuffed with unsolicited spam! Companies thinking that just because they have an address (often not even a name) that they have the right to hijack that persons mailbox and dump tons of paper waste in it is the worst most arrogant crime ever. And why is it never talked about or any laws made against it? Why of course, because unlike digital spam that creates ZERO paper waste and gas waste to create it and then to deliver it, it is PROFITABLE to the government. The post office makes the bulk of their income off of this just as terrible and even far more invasive delivery of spam junk. There is no money for the gov. to make off of digital spam, if there was, I guarantee it would be legal! And there is no spam mailbox for this junk mail they deliver to filter that crap out. Like a recycle box for them to put it in instead of your mailbox! Worst environmental disaster of paper waste and tree destruction EVER!!!!!!
