Many of us have heard of the horrendous atrocities that the Lord’s Resistance Army (LRA) has committed throughout Northern Uganda and Southern Sudan. After the heartbreaking failure of last year’s peace negotiations with LRA leader Joseph Kony, the LRA have not let up on their brutal attacks on the people of West Africa. Over the past few months, they have focused their attention on undermining the heart of many communities by destroying their churches.

Reported by Catholic.net:

"A gang from the Lord’s Resistance Army stormed into Our Lady Queen of Peace church and desecrated the building before abducting 17 people mostly in their teens and 20s…

A week after that attack, six people were ambushed in a forest and nailed to pieces of wood fastened to the ground. Those who discovered the bodies several days later likened it to a grotesque crucifixion scene."

Last week, a protest in response to these killings was established by Bishop Edward Hiiboro Kussala of Tombura-Yambio. Approximately 20,000 Christians in Yambio, Sudan, walked in silence to protest the government’s inability to protect its citizens from further acts of violence by the Lord’s Resistance Army.

Join Invisible Children in their efforts to call upon President Obama to capture Joseph Kony and bring an end to the LRA’s gruesome acts of violence once and for all.

The petition calls for President Obama to:
•Commit the U.S. to lead an international effort to arrest Joseph Kony and announce this strategy through a public statement by Christmas 2009.
•Commit to sign and implement into law The LRA Disarmament and Northern Uganda Recovery Act.
•Commit to the recovery and rehabilitation of the LRA affected communities in Uganda, South Sudan, CAR and DR Congo.

Over 9,000 people have signed the petition so far! Make your voice heard by signing the Citizens Arrest Warrant for Joseph Kony.
