You may not know about it or have it down on your calendar, but today is an important international holiday. In fact, it’s my favorite! (Although…Halloween is a close second)

It’s HUG A VEGETARIAN DAY!!!

People around the world are taking some time out to hug the vegetarians and vegans in their lives! Almost 4,000 people have RSVPed to the Facebook event.

Whether you’re a veggie or not, hugs are welcome! Sit tight and allow me to fill you in on how to properly enjoy this holiday:

Step One: HUG

If you’re a vegetarian or vegan, announce the holiday to folks around you. Then stare at them awkwardly until they hug you.

If you’re a meat-eater, you can still enjoy this holiday! Take a minute to hug your vegetarian friends and family! Maybe even enjoy a vegetarian meal with them today?

Here’s how it should go:

Group hugs can be great too!

You can even hug yourself!

Step Two: Document your celebration!

Send in a photo of yourself with an awesome Peta 2 banner or of an awesome hug to be included in the Peta 2 slideshow!

Step Three: Spread the love

For your friends out of hugging range, send them a e-hug to remind them you care.
