Celebrate National Breast Cancer Awareness Month This October

by ERICA LIEPMANN, Causecast Associate Editor
Thousands of Americans are diagnosed with breast cancer each year and the disease is among the leading causes of death for women. Each October, Americans observe National Breast Cancer Awareness Month, helping to spread education about the disease and to raise funds for those living with breast cancer and to promote breast cancer research.
This month, take some time to learn about breast cancer and advocate to help end this deadly disease. The Breast Cancer Fund and the Susan G. Komen Foundation are good places to start to get educated about breast cancer and to get involved in local events.
The National Breast Cancer Month site has an awesome list of events taking place all over the country, including breast cancer conferences and Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure events.
In addition to being an advocate in your community, make sure to pay attention to your own personal breast health (you too men!) and get yearly mammograms.
