Okay, Twitter addicts, let’s be real. Sometimes you might tweet something a little…well, pointless?

I’m not pointing blame in anybody’s direction, we’re all guilty. And that doesn’t mean we don’t use our Twitter accounts to some good too! These days, Twitter is being used to share breaking news, raise awareness about important global issues and fundraise for worthy causes.

If you find yourself reading some pointless tweets, now you can recycle them! Through the new Re:cycled Tweets program, you can put your friends to shame for lame tweets and raise money for real-life recycling programs while you’re at it. For each tweet that is recycled, McKinney will donate one penny to Global Inheritance’s TRASHed :: The Art Of Recycling campaign. The TRASHed program demonstrates the power of re-using materials by inspiring and empowering artists to create original works of art with recyclables.

Here’s how the Re:cycled Tweets idea works:

The video how-to:

I’ll even put myself to shame. Here are a few recycle-worthy tweets:

Who cares?!

If you see a friend making such a faux-pas:

Step 1. Copy the dumb tweet.

Step 2. Type @ and the username of the tweet’s author.

Step 3. Paste the tweet in after their name.

Step 4. Add the hashtag #recyclethis before you click send!

The tweet will pop up on the Re:cycled tweet site and you can check out the new version, randomly made up with the letters from the original tweet. They are pretty funny!

Here are my favorite recycled tweets:

The problem with babies is that they don’t appreciate sarcasm.

No one ever made history while wearing clown pants.
