Ask U.S.: Darfur Discussion Live Streaming

by ERICA LIEPMANN, Causecast Associate Editor
Recently, the Obama administration unveiled the government’s new strategy for dealing with the Sudanese government and addressing the ongoing humanitarian crisis in the Darfur region. To keep the ball rolling on a national conversation about this important topic, and to engage Darfur activists and the general public alike, the White House will be hosting a national discussion on Darfur. On November 10, government officials and nonprofit leaders will come together for Ask U.S., a nation-wide question and answer session about Sudan and the Darfur conflict.
Here the details and how you can get in on the conversation:
Who:
• Scott Gration, U.S. Special Envoy to Sudan
• Samantha Power, NSC Senior Director for Multilateral Affairs
• Jerry Fowler, President of Save Darfur Coalition
• Layla Amjadi, Student Director of STAND (student division of the Genocide Intervention Network)
When:
Tuesday, November 10, 3:00 p.m. EST. The event will take place at the White House and will be live streaming online so people across the nation can tune in and join the conversation.
How to join the discussion:
• Submit your questions and they might be answered during the meeting!
• Tune in for the live stream on the official White House site, the State Department’s Facebook page, the Save Darfur homepage or the STAND homepage.
• Join the conversation on Facebook by posting comments on the State Department’s page. You can also join in on Twitter – the hashtag is #AskUS.
• Keep up with the ongoing work of these nonprofit organizations to improve the lives of Sudanese affected by the Darfur conflict. Find out how you can get involved with Save Darfur or start a chapter of STAND on your college campus.
