Violent conflict has plagued Eastern Congo for the past 15 years, forever changing the lives of those who call the area home. This December, Doctor’s Without Borders will debut a documentary entitled Living in Emergency: Stories of Doctors Without Borders. The film highlights the lives of four doctors struggling to provide emergency medical care to those in war-torn Congo and post-conflict Liberia. While they may come from different parts of the world, their convergence in the Congo brings their challenges, hardships, and struggles together as one.

Spanning 444 theaters and 120,000 seats across the country, the film will be hitting theaters for a one-time showing Monday, December 14.

Following the film will be an open forum discussion, mediated by ABC News’ 20/20 anchor Elizabeth Vargas and featuring panelists Sebastian Junger (best-selling author of The Perfect Storm and Vanity Fair contributing editor), Dr. Tom Krueger (Doctors Without Borders surgeon featured in the documentary), Sophie Delaunay (executive director of Doctors Without Borders-USA), and other special guests. The discussion will be broadcast LIVE from the NYU Skirball Center in New York City.

Check out the film’s trailer:

Let’s help fill all 120,000 seats, to learn from the experiences of these doctors and share in their struggles and the struggles of those affected by war. Check theater availability, show times, and purchase tickets online. Don’t let this opportunity pass you by!

Let’s assume that some pressing prior engagement has you unavailable for the December 14 premiere: you can still show your support by leaving a message of encouragement for the Congolese people. Or, you can donate to Doctor’s Without Borders and help victims of war rebuild their lives.
