President Barack Obama’s December 1 announcement about the future of the war in Afghanistan has been eagerly anticipated.

Critics of the war have been especially active in recent months, working to build momentum around anti-war demonstrations and campaigns. American peace advocates staged a nationwide phone-in on November 23 to urge President Obama not to escalate the war. Afghani activist Malai Joya has traveled around the U.S., promoting her recent book about her experiences as a member of parliament in Afghanistan. Joya advocates for an end to U.S. involved in the country, to allow her people to take full responsibility for their nation into their own hands.

Despite the best efforts of activists, President Obama is expected to announce an escalation of the Afghanistan war and the deployment of an additional 300,000 American troops. The President has reportedly already made the announcement to his cabinet members and top military commanders.

The nation awaits the President’s upcoming speech – but we think we already know what we’re going to hear.

Tune in for the President’s official speech, airing on ABC at 8:00 p.m. ET/5:00 p.m. PT December 1.
