Campaign For Change

Another Eco-Update

Lately we have been focusing much energy on acquiring Green Business Certification. So here are a few things we changed over the last week:

PhotobucketFirst, we bought a few smart strips for the office, though it appears they may actually be too smart for us. We’ve been having some issues so I highly recommend keeping the instructions handy if you purchase one of your own.

Though we have multiple recycling receptacles around the Causecast office, few are appropriately identified as such. In fact, a common complaint was that no one really knew which container was which. So, Tanaka and I decided to redecorate our recycling bins so they could never again be mistaken for trash. We also decided that a battery recycling system was crucial, so I went ahead and created a recycling container. It may have been my lack of sleep and persistent state of delirium, but it appeared as though the box showed a slight resemblance of PhotobucketBender from Futurama, hence I proceeded to create a Bender-esque battery recycling container. If you tend to use up a lot of batteries you can either look into purchasing rechargeable batteries or order a battery recycling system for your home or office. If that doesn’t work for you, you can drop off your batteries at Trader Joe’s.

Next step, figuring out an incentive program to promote alternative modes of transportation. If your office doesn’t have a ride-share program or other alternative transportation resources you may be interested in implementing car-free Fridays. The Los Angeles County Bicycle Coalition has even developed a business partnership program that offers discounts to cyclists on Fridays!

Until next time…keep it green!

I've been walking to work every day since March! You can't get much more carbon-friendly than that.
