Shoe moments in 2008 Today, Footwear News posted some of the biggest moments in footwear for ‘08:

    1. The shoe heard ’round the world: On Dec. 14, the quickfooted prez dodged two size-10 men’s dress shoes thrown by Iraqi journalist Muntadhar al-Zaidi at a press conference…

    2. Project stumbleway: During Milan Fashion Week last September, models were falling for — and down over — Prada’s high-altitude heels during runway shows for the spring ’09 collection. Several models teetered and two actually fell while strutting the catwalk…

Reflecting on our past year here at TOMS, we’ve had some newsworthy events, too. Here are just a few:

    1. We held our first Shoe Drop on our own turf: Blake, full-time TOMS employees, and dedicated volunteers traveled to Gulfport, MS, Orlando, FL, and Booneville, KY to give white canvas shoes to elementary-aged children. The TOMS teams also brought along markers and paints for the kids to decorate and customize their shoes.

    2. We launched the TOMS Wrap Boot: the fir...Read More

  • To kick off ‘09…

To kick off ‘09… For the second year in a row, I’ll be starting my new year in Argentina on a Shoe Drop with family and friends. We will be headed to Misiones- the same region of the first Shoe Drop where we gave the first 10,000 pairs of shoes in 2006. Argentina is always such an energizing place for me: to be back in the same landscapes that surrounded me as I was developing the idea of TOMS; to eat the same incredible Argentine meals; to drive down the bumpy roads; to hang out with Alejo everyday; to see the smiles on the children’s faces as they receive their shoes and I struggle to communicate with them in my broken Spanish. The Shoe Drop experience is the heart and soul of TOMS and we’ve made that experience accessible to not only our closet friends and family and our employees, but to everyone: Any TOMS fan who wants to personally give a pair of shoes to a child in need; any friend, mother, husband, sibling or colleague of a TOMS supporter who is seeking a life changing experience. I encourag...Read More

  • Did we reach our goal?!

Did we reach our goal?! The past 30 days have been a whirl-wind. In addition to the expected Holiday rush that commences after Thanksgiving, things were particularly busy at the TOMS HQ.

30,000 pairs of shoes in 30 days…. can we do it?!

Christmas has now snuck up on us, and the 30 day deadline we set for ourselves has ended. And now you’re starting to ask us, “I shared your video, I bought a pair of shoes, I posted the campaign on my blog… SO DID WE REACH THE GOAL??”

    Yes we did.

Did we go ABOVE AND BEYOND the goal?
    YES.

We hit 37,000, amigos. THATS PRETTY COOL.
We united, we had a mission, and we blasted through the finish line.

Thank you to all of you who helped us in every little way. 30,000 pairs of shoes will be given to children in Ethiopia on your behalf.

Happy Holidays, see ya in the new year!
