Pass on the Gift: Don't Miss "CBS Survivor" Wow, what a week! If the first five days of Pass on the Gift month are any indication, this global celebration will be one of the most exciting in Heifer’s history.

If you didn’t visit http://www.heifer.org/passonthegift each day last week, here’s some of what you missed:

Heifer “cows” paraded through the streets of New York City to kickoff Pass on the Gift month. The stunt was silly, but the cause is serious. See more photos of the Cows Take Manhattan event: http://www.heifer.org/site/apps/nlnet/content2.aspx?c=slI3IdNVJuE&b=5069993&content_id={79CE75F0-B1BE-4E18-8A45-A332B9BB24B1}¬oc=1&msource=POG090406&tr=y&auid=4716404

More surprises await this week. Visit each day - and don't miss the special Heifer mention on "CBS Survivor" this Thursday!

    Sincerely,

    Ashley Michael, Heifer International

  • Get Involved: Pass on the Gift that Ends Hunger with Heifer

Get Involved: Pass on the Gift that Ends Hunger with Heifer “I pass on my cow to you,” Raiman said, handing the rope halter to Sukina. “Please take care of it.”

With this, Raiman fulfilled his commitment to pass on the gift he’d received from Heifer years before. You see, Raiman lost everything - his wife, his house, his community - when the 2004 tsunami struck Indonesia. At 62, it was hard enough to start over, much less help struggling neighbors. But the cow and training from Heifer allowed Raiman to regain what the waters swept away, and less than four years after the disaster, he was able to pass on the gift of his cow’s offspring to another family in need.

Give now and start your own cycle of giving; a cycle that will last for generations.

Everyone who receives a gift from Heifer International agrees to pass on what they have been given to someone else in need. This is the beauty and power of Passing on the Gift: it ensures not only that the gifts of livestock and training help twice as many families, but also that Heifer proje...Read More

  • Light Up Black Friday!

    Related causes: Community

Struggling families are counting on you to light up their world by giving gifts of hope this holiday season.

The world needs your help to show that "giving" is about more than what you can buy at your nearest mall. The biggest shopping day of the year, "Black Friday," is right after Thanksgiving. A quick three days later comes "Cyber Monday," the year's biggest shopping day online.

Even with the looming world economic crisis, experts estimate that more than $5 billion dollars will be spent on consumer goods during these two days alone. It's a staggering figure, especially when you consider the potential for sustainable change in the lives of struggling families if just a portion of that spending went to alternative gifts to honor those we love. These families need your help.

Gifts to Heifer International can light up the future of families around the world.

And now, more than ever, is the time to give. When the global economy sputters, the world’s poor are affected the ...Read More
