Bowling for Angels has grown into our most fun event and you don’t even have to fundraise to participate! Bowlingforangels.org describes how you can join in the fun by registering as a bowler or simply making a small contribution to one of the teams. Or how about raising morale at work, while helping our most vulnerable neighbors with the ultimate office party by forming a team — for only $50 registration per bowler?! Your colleagues can eat, drink and bowl without the party planning or messy clean-up. And there are valuable prizes to earn, including an international trip.
To form a team or for more information, call Alex Boling 323.845.1800 ext. 255 or aboling@angelfood.org. -

The event, called Dining Out for Life, is a win-win for diners, restaurants and the agency. "It is especially meaningful during these difficult times when you dine out on that day because your spending will make a positive impact on the lives of people with life-threatening illnesses in your community,"
says Robert Bauer, Project Angel Food board member.

At Project Angel Food we are even more energized about our mission during these difficult economic times because we know that the people we serve have the additional burden of bravely struggling with devastating diseases. The economic stimulus package will not provide for them; instead, they'll continue to count on Project Angel Food and the commitment and caring of individuals who agree that the most vulnerable among us always deserve special attention...and hope.
The agency proudly commemorates 20 years of service this year. We've undergone major growth -- from cooking and delivering 20 meals a day in 1989 to nearly 1,600 meals today. And throughout that time our purpose has remained crystal clear - to nourish the body and the spirit of our neighbors who are sick, so they can heal with dignity. That is why staff and our wonderful corps of volunteers continue to cook all the food, with love, from scratch with the best possible ingredients, despite our lean budget.

Last year, Project Angel Food’s dedicated corps of more than 1,500 volunteers of all ages graciously gave 53,372 of their precious hours, equivalent to 27 full-time staff. Volunteers have always been the backbone of the agency, enabling us to keep the total cost per meal to a little more than $5, including costs of ingredients, cooking, packaging and the delivery. Our volunteer delivery drivers are often the only human interaction a client may have over the course of their homebound day, and clients often refer to their drivers as their angels. To be part of this amazing team, call 323.845.1816 or email volunteers@angelfood.org.
