Stops on the tour included:
Cal: I'm so glad that I visited this school because I had heard nothing about it, and I always thought UCLA was the best UC! I fell in love with Cal the moment I stepped on campus. Since it's so far away, I would never have been able to visit, so I'm extremely thankful for Step Up and its beneficiaries. I absolutely loved the school because of its size and diversity. Also, I loved the area in which it's located because it's rich with culture and music, making it the perfect school for me. After the trip, I reflected on how I've been doing in school, and I decided that I will work harder to get into the school of my dreams. UC Berkeley is a huge school, but I'm sure that attending the school will make me grow as a person. Thank you Step Up!

Mills College: I liked that Mills focuses on empowering women as an all-women's college. They offer small classes and a "4 + 1 program" where I can complete an undergraduate and masters degree in a total of five years.

Saint Mary's College: Having the opportunity to visit Saint Mary's was outstanding. It opened my eyes to all of the different types of liberal arts colleges. I was able to see the different parts of the campus, including the dorms, which are awesome! My tour guide was really honest with us and expressed her feelings about her experience at Saint Mary's. One factor that I loved about Saint Mary's was that they are recognized for their sports. I look forward to submitting my college application this fall.

Santa Clara University: Santa Clara is wonderful! I love the atmosphere, smell of nature, the people and the whole school itself. I see myself going there because there are many majors to choose from, and I know I can take my time to figure things out. I am so happy that I found this school because now I feel the motivation that had been missing before. I know that I am going to push myself harder to get better grades and to get scholarships because when a person wants something, they have to work for it, no matter how hard it is. I want to get to Santa Clara, and I will work hard for it. I am so thankful for the Santa Clara athletes that took time out of their daily lives to give us Step Up girls the wonderful tours that led me and many other classmates to fall in love with the school. Getting to know these hard-working and motivated women made me realize that if they made it, I could too. So this fall I will definitely be applying to Santa Clara!

San Francisco State: Visiting San Francisco State was one of the best experiences of my life. Besides being on a trip I know my parents could have never afforded to take me on themselves, I was also able to truly be on a college campus that I can visualize myself attending in the near future. I recently decided that engineering is the major I want to pursue in college, yet I hadn't visited any colleges that offered my major. At San Francisco State, our tour guide was an electrical engineering major who showed us classroom after classroom in the engineering building - we even saw the shop class where they were working on modifications for wheelchairs in third world countries. I knew then and there that I wanted to major in engineering, and that I was applying to San Francisco State.

UC Santa Cruz: At UC Santa Cruz, we met with Step Up alum Genola. Genola talked to us about her transition from high school to college at UC Santa Cruz. Genola's lucky because the school has such a beautiful campus - and it's so close to the beach!

Dominican University: I loved everything about Dominican University: the campus, the people, and more! I really liked how everyone seemed to know each other and get along and that there are still nuns on campus that receive so much respect. Our tour guides were so fun and taught us a lot about the school and about what it's like to be a college student, including the fact that they were scared at first, too. I also like that for admissions, the school considers everything a student does - not just her grades. I didn't know about this school before this trip, and I am so happy I do now, because I can really see myself going there. I loved getting to experience what college feels like, and I cannot wait to go and be a part of the real thing.
