You are invited to a Benefit Concert in Honor of Jordan Lawhead

Dear Friends of The Art of Elysium,
It is with mixed emotions that I am writing to you. On March 23, 2009 we have the powerful gift of giving to one of our own who is facing the same fears that our children face while in the hospital.
Jordan Lawhead has volunteered his incredible musical talents to brighten the lives of patients at Childrens Hospital Los Angeles and beyond through the music programs of The Art of Elysium. He now needs each of us to reach inside and see what we have to give to help him while he faces multiple medical treatments and the uncertainty that the diagnosis of Melanoma brings. Jordan's faith and untiring belief in the artistic spirit and the true miracle of creativity and the healing it can bring is sure to guarantee him as the victor in this fight. The opportunity that Jordan has given us to help him at this time in his life is a gift because as Saint Francis said, "it is in giving that we receive".
I ask each of you to accept this gift and join us at the Hotel Café on March 23, 2009 for a special benefit that we are holding to help Jordan with the added costs of medical bills. Tickets are $15 and you will have the opportunity to purchase raffle tickets for $20 for a special prize of a Russell Young/ Henry Diltz silk screen print of Crosby, Stills and Nash. This donated piece of art best illustrates the full circle concept of The Art of Elysium-artists sharing their talents with children, children inspiring the artists through the creative exchange and the artists giving their own art to further support the mission of the charity.
If you have any other ideas for contributing please let us know. It is not often that we get to reach out and support a friend, an inspiration and a fellow artist in such a way. My prayers are with Jordan and while shaken to the core about his diagnosis, I know that with our support and love Jordan will get through this and be restored to 100% health.
