Give others donations to their favorite charities! Redefine Christmas is neither commercial venture, nor money-maker. It's simply a charitable idea, shared by many, that our holiday gift giving could be more meaningful and do more good. In addition to the gifts we enjoy shopping for and giving, we're often compelled to give gifts that aren't so meaningful. Imagine if we replaced those gifts by giving others donations to their favorite charities. And we just request that others do the same for us. Americans typically spend $470 billion a year on holiday gifts. Just 1/3 of that would provide clean drinking water for every man, woman and child on the planet. Lets break the stereotype. This year we challenge you to give in a new way. Face it, we’re in a recession and people need change. It’s simple. Causecast’s 12 Days of Giving campaign brings together multiple nonprofit organizations, ambassadors, activists, leaders and members of the entertainment world to get the message out loud and clear: "We don’t need another scarf or sweater. We need change." Buy one less present and donate one more dollar in a friend’s name to a charity of their choice. Or better yet, buy a gift for them that directly benefits the cause and still makes your friend or family member happy. It’s that easy. We can change the world one gift at a time. Washington: Dennis Molino, Age 20
Dennis Molino is a 20 year old living in Seattle, WA. After losing his parents to addiction and violence, he bounced around the foster care system before being "aged out" when he turned 18. As recently as a month ago, Molino was living on the streets, sleeping in cars, on couches, and anywhere else he could find warmth and shelter. Thanks to help from the United Indians of All Tribes Foundation, he is now living at their local youth home, where he participates in educational and employment workshops. Molino has a job at a local fast-food restaurant, and plans to get his G.E.D. and pursue a future in culinary arts.
