He's a talented pianist -- completely self-taught -- and writes his own music. He has ambitions of going to college and working in the music business. This video portrait was produced by David Bergman (http://www.DavidBergman.net) for Do1Thing.org (http://www.do1thing.org) Do1Thing is a nationwide movement that strives to raise awareness for the more than 1.3 million homeless youth in America by asking everyone to simply Do 1 Thing on Valentines Day, 2009. Its a chance to help someone less fortunate than yourself. Shot with the Nikon D90. Tech details on the blog post:

Photojournalist Nina Berman on Do1Thing.org
Nina Berman is a documentary photographer with a primary interest in the American political and social landscape. Her work has been extensively published, exhibited and collected, garnering praise in both the art and journalism communities with awards from the World Press Photo Foundation, the New York Foundation for the Arts and the Open Society Institute documentary photography fund. Her first monograph, “Purple Hearts – Back From Iraq” a collection of portraits and interviews with U.S. soldiers wounded in the war, was published by Trolley in 2004 and received wide acclaim. The book was made into a feature length documentary film by the same name and was screened worldwide. Her work on wounded veterans has continued and her 2006 “Marine Wedding” portrait that shows a severely disfigured marine with his young bride on their wedding day is considered to be an iconic image of life during wartime. Her work has been the subject of several solo and group exhibitions in galleries and museums in New York, Chicago, Washington D.C. and throughout Europe. She is on the faculty of the International Center of Photography in her hometown of New York City. She received her bachelor’s degree in English from the University of Chicago and her masters from Columbia University Graduate School of Journalism. For more about Nina see http://www.ninaberman.com. Do1Thing co-founders Najlah Feanny Hicks and Pim Van Hemmen learned the impact that one person could have on another person's life through their work with the Heart Gallery, a project they started to encourage the adoption of teens in the foster care system. Najlah Feanny has been hired by magazines world-wide for her "day-in-the-life" style of reportage photography. She is a New York City based photojournalist and has covered issues like abortion, women's rights, poverty, hurricanes, floods, business, politics and presidential campaigns. This video shows the impact one person had on the life of Jamillah Williams, a teen who aged out of the foster care system and became a single mother. http://www.heartgallerynj.org/, http://www.do1thing.org/
