Crude Trailer
Three years in the making, this cinéma-vérité feature from acclaimed filmmaker Joe Berlinger is the epic story of one of the largest and most controversial legal cases on the planet. An inside look at the infamous $27 billion Amazon Chernobyl case, CRUDE is a real-life high stakes legal drama set against a backdrop of the environmental movement, global politics, celebrity activism, human rights advocacy, the media, multinational corporate power, and rapidly-disappearing indigenous cultures. Presenting a complex situation from multiple viewpoints, the film subverts the conventions of advocacy film making as it examines a complicated situation from all angles while bringing an important story of environmental peril and human suffering into focus.

I implore you to see this film. It is mind-boggling. A beautifully-made film that captures the essence of a dire situation and carries a poignant & emotional charge. In addition to being shocked at what I didn't know, I was surprised at the even hand that Berlinger dealt Chevron (to hang themselves on however). GET A BUNCH OF PEOPLE AND SEE IT BEFORE IT'S GONE.
I saw this film last night at the IFC Center in NYC. Anyone in the New York area needs to run to see this film before it closes there Sept 22. It is a mind-blowingly powerful film on the Chevron contamination crisis in the rain forest in Ecuador and a profound call to action against the abuse of indigenous peoples everywhere. It is also going to open in LA and San Francisco. This is a must-see.
